Reston Pride: Equity. Equality. Community. Collaboration.

Reston, VA— Reston Pride is evolving.

What started as a small weekend festival has grown into something more—a celebration of community, a platform for activism, and an ongoing movement rooted in equity, equality, and collaboration. As the organization nears its 10th year, it is working to build a sustainable, year-round force for connection and advocacy.

Reston Pride announces it will not hold its annual festival in 2026, citing critical capacity challenges and an urgent need for leadership, operational support, and financial sustainability.

After eight years of rapid growth, Reston Pride has outgrown its longtime home at Lake Anne. Last year, nearly 6,000 festival-goers attended—the largest festival to date—highlighting both the strength of the community and the increasing financial and logistical demands of future growth.

“The community powers Reston Pride,” said Bri Morgan, President. “This moment is a turning point. We have the opportunity to build something sustainable and even more impactful—but only if people step forward now to help lead and support this work.”

Rather than produce an unsustainable event, Reston Pride is dedicating 2026 to rebuilding its foundation and preparing for a 10th anniversary celebration in 2027—if the organization can stabilize. Throughout 2026, Reston Pride will focus on connection, collaboration, and community by hosting smaller events, supporting other local Pride organizations, and rebuilding leadership and operational capacity.

A Call To Action

Reston Pride is urgently calling on the community to join the cause:

  • Board Members — Experienced leaders in nonprofit management, finance, fundraising, marketing, law, and community organizing
  • Committee Heads and Members — Individuals ready to take ownership of events, outreach, partnerships, fundraising, and operations
  • Donors — Grassroots financial support to sustain operations and rebuilding efforts. In-Kind Service and Expertise Donations are always welcome.
  • Sponsorship for the 2027 Events is welcome in the form of letters of intent.

2026 is a year of community building, and it will also determine if Reston Pride has a future. Pride does not begin and end with a festival. It takes committed people, shared resources, and collective effort to transform a moment of celebration into a lasting movement for equity and equality.

This pause is not without consequence. Without immediate action to secure committed Board Members, Committee Heads, Volunteers, and donors by the end of August, Reston Pride will shutter operations, ending our community's celebration and advocacy efforts.

We thank our Community Members for their continued support throughout the years. We call on our supporters and community members to join us as board members, volunteers, or donors.

Reston Pride: Equity. Equality. Community. Collaboration.
